Due to a recent backend system update, some players have received a Name Change notification despite having an appropriate Riot ID. If this happened to you, check Changing Your Riot ID to see what you can do (like keeping your game name!) and can't do (like using the original server tagline, eg. NA1, EUW1, etc). And sorry for the inconvenience—some decade-old systems just won't modernize without a fight.

Curious about your VALORANT stats for 2024? Just go enter your Riot ID + tag at our VALORANT Flashback site for all the deets. If the site gives you an error and you recently changed your Riot ID, try using your old Riot ID!

If you see Error Code VAN9002 when attempting to log into VALORANT, it's likely because you have Windows Exploit Protection disabled. To get yourself back in the game, you must enable Exploit Protection on your machine. Don't know how? Well, I'm here to help!

  1. Click the Search icon () next to the Start Menu icon (png-transparent-microsoft-start-menu-windows-10-operating-systems-microsoft-blue-angle-text.png) on your desktop's taskbar.
  2. Type exploit protection into the search bar.
  3. Click on Exploit protection to open system settings.
  4. In the System settings tab, you'll find the following settings:

    Control flow guard (CFG)
    Data Execution Prevention (DEP)
Force randomization for image (Mandatory ASLR)
    Randomized memory allocation (Bottom-up ASLR)
    High-entropy ASLR
    Validate exception chains (SEHOP)
    Validate heap integrity

    NOTE

You may have to scroll down to find all the settings.

Make sure all of the above settings are set to Use default as shown below.

Once a setting has been changed, the phrase This change requires you to restart your device will appear under it.
  5. Before restarting, we'll take a couple more steps to ensure your device is ready. Go to the Program settings tab.
