Riot Mobile MFA Verification for VALORANT FAQ

In 2025, we made Riot Mobile MFA verification required for all accounts that were suspected of sharing or had reached ranked Ascendant or above. Starting late May/early June of 2026 (details at end of article), all players looking to join the Competitive Queue will need to complete Riot Mobile MFA Verification.

Why are you doing this?

We believe Riot Mobile MFA requirements will have two major outcomes:

  1. Stop players from easily obtaining accounts to intentionally play below their rank (rank manipulation) in Competitive
  2. Strengthen your account security – most accounts that are compromised don’t have MFA enabled.

How do I know if I need to enable Riot Mobile MFA?

When attempting to queue up for a Competitive Queue, you'll see a Verify Account button in place of the Start button. You won't be able to play Competitive until you complete the Riot Mobile MFA verification process.

I’ve already verified my account with the Riot Mobile MFA in the past. Do I need to verify again?

No, if you’re already verified through Riot Mobile MFA, your account fulfills the requirements.

Is this mandatory for all regions?

Yes, but not all at once! See below for the global rollout plan.

  • Patch 12.10: Riot Mobile MFA becomes mandatory in Competitive Queues for NA and EU.
  • Patch 12.11: Riot Mobile MFA becomes mandatory in Competitive for  LATAM, BR, AP and KR.

Can I use the authenticator app instead?

Nope, Ranked verification requires the use of Riot Mobile MFA.
