We are aware of an issue with a Weekly Mission that's requiring 100 matches for completion instead of 10, and we're working on a solution. Check our X (formerly Twitter) announcement for details.

Account Transfer FAQ

Are you experiencing lag, have payment options in the wrong currency, or recently moved to another country? If so, you may want to transfer your account to a different Region of Residence (RoR).

Before you get started, you probably have a few questions. Luckily, I have some answers.

What's a Region of Residence? And what are shards?

Both have to do with where you are in the world right now.

Your Region of Residence (RoR) is the geographical area you live in. It helps determine details like your available payment options and currency, default language, and the shard you play on.

Your shard determines who you can play with and which servers are available to you, allowing you to select the server closest to you to help minimize the effects of lag. As of now, these are the shards:

  • Southeast Asia/Asia-Pacific (AP)
  • Europe (EU)
  • Korea (KR)
  • Brazil (BR)
  • Latin America (LATAM)
  • North America (NA)

Both your RoR and your shard are based on your physical location when you created your account. So if you created your account while in the United States, for example, your Region of Residence would be USA and you'd be on the North America shard.

Keep in mind that you can only change your shard or Region of Residence to match your physical location, so be extra careful when playing from a VPN. Remember—you can only play with friends who are on the same shard as you.

Between which Regions can I transfer?

Here, there, and everywhere. But there are a few exceptions:

  • Players who are in the South Korea RoR cannot move to the Japan RoR.
  • Players who are not in South Korea but would like their RoR to be South Korea will need to create a new account in that region. You can do so here.
  • You must be a permanent resident in Vietnam to have your RoR changed to Vietnam.
  • RoR changes to China are not available. Players in China need to create a new account in that region.
  • Shard changes are only done to match your RoR. You cannot change shards just to play in other regions.

What will and won't transfer with my account?

The below holds true for most transfers.

TRANSFERS BETWEEN NA/LATAM/BR

ALL data, including current season progress, match history, and purchase history, does transfer for players transferring between the North America, LATAM, or Brazil shards.

How do I request a change in my RoR?

You can request a change in your Region of Residence from this page. If that doesn't work, you can /submit a ticket with the following info:

  • Username
  • Riot ID and Tagline
  • E-mail address
  • Current RoR
  • RoR you want to transfer to

Remember: These changes can only be made to match your physical location, and changing your Region of Residence will erase your current ranked season's progress, match history, and purchase history.

90-day account transfer cooldown period

Important: Once you transfer your account to a different RoR, you can't transfer it again for 90 days.
